Qatar - Uruguayan Relations


Bilateral relations between Qatar and Uruguay:

Diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay began on 16/03/1987. The State of Qatar also has good relations with the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, and It is still in the phase of exploration of the fields of cooperation, investment opportunities available, and the legal framework that protects the interests of the two countries in various fields of future cooperation.

The Uruguayan Embassy was opened in Doha in 2009.

 The Qatari Embassy in Uruguay was opened in 2011.

Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Al Jaber presented credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Eastern Republic of Uruguay to His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs (former) Luis Almagro on 13/09/2013.

HE Mr. Mohamed Hassan Al Jaber presented credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Eastern Republic of Uruguay to the President of the Republic (former) José Mujica Cordano on 19/09/2013.

Mutual visits:

Visit of His Excellency President Dr. Tabaré Vázquez and his accompanying delegation to the State of Qatar in 2007.

Visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, may God preserve him and his accompanying delegation, to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay in 2010.

Visit of His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs (former) Dr. Luis Almagro and his delegation to the State of Qatar in 2014.

Visit of His Excellency the Minister of Transport in Qatar Mr. Jassem bin Saif Al Sulaiti and the accompanying delegation representing the State of Qatar in the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Dr. Tabaré Vázquez on Sunday, 1 March 2015 in the capital Montevideo.
